The Dalmatian and the Island cuisine match the taste of modern nutrition science. Short preparation time; mainly grilled or steamed, fish, olive oil, lots of vegetables and wild growing herbs from the surrounding keep the food in the coastal region relatively light. The most known wines are Dingac and Postip from Peljesac peninsula , Babic from Primosten, Vugava and Plancic from the islands of Hvar, Posip and Grk from Korcula, Marastina from Insel Lastovo, Malmsy from Dubrovnik; as well as Prosecco - a sweet desert wine - Grappa and herb schnaps (Travarica) and liquors (Maraschino, Vlahov). In Murter you have many good restaurants. We introduce you two restaurants, where we also personally have very good experiences:

RESTAURANT MATE

If you look for good, home made kitchen EDI is the right address. Traditional Croatian dishes e.g. Cevapcici, Pljeskavice, fresh fish from the local see are excellent choises. For a diver the restaurant has an additional attraction: Edi’s father JURE was one of the first divers in the region and he has documented his memories on the walls in the inner courtyard. Jure is glad to share his adventures with you over a glass of wine, but be aware that you need to polish your Croatian – he speaks only the local language.

RESTAURANT FABRO

DAMIR has a good reputation since years as the „Gourmet chef“ of the Island. If you look for something special and classy , a visit to Damir’s new restaurant directly on the pier is a must! You sit on the quay, watching the stars above you, or a romantic sun set in the horizon, listening to the waves clutching against the boats. Very romantic….. The Gorgonzola steak with rucola counts to the highlight of the menu.
